and a free knitting pattern! Here's what to do:

Stitches:

K - Knit
P - Purl
Y - Yarn over
K2T - Knit two together
PSSO - Pass the slipped st over the knit st
SK2P - Slide 1 st, K2T, PSSO

Cast on 39 sts.
Knit 4 rows.

Next row (RS): K4, P4, K1, YO, SK2P, YO, K1, P4, K1, YO, SK2P, YO, K1,P4, K1, YO, SK2P, YO, K1, P4, K4
Next row (WS): K2, work all stitches as they appear until last 2 sts, K2

Work all RS and WS rows as listed above until scarf is desired length.

Knit 4 rows.
Cast off.

Voila! Neck warmth :)
